In late May 2002, a man was shot six times
in his home in San Diego, California by an acquaintance. Seriously
injured, he was transported to the hospital near death. His family
was notified, and the bedside vigil began.
Although the victim was a long-time resident of San Diego, he grew
up in Florida, where most of his family still reside, and he spent
approximately half of his time in Washington D.C. on business. As
that night wore on and word of the attack spread, his family, friends,
and business associates were desperate for information about his
condition and about the events of that night. The few family members
that were able to fly in from Florida to be at his side tried to
keep everyone informed to the best of their ability, but confusion
reigned, and many loved ones were left to wonder and worry.
Within a few days it became apparent that an easy, reliable, and
universally accessible means of delivering information to a large
group of people would be a godsend to both those that were far away
and desperate for information, and to those that were desperately
trying to keep them informed. This website was developed in June
2002 by that man's family and friends to fulfill that need.
Yes. He survived. *
